Doctor Who - the REAL thing

A few observations and comments on the REAL Doctor Who series - not all this amateur stuff!

Peter Kay in series 2 ! Ohmigod K9 is back ! Anthony Stewart Head ! The Cybus Corporation ! Cassandra ! Rose's Dad ! Genesis on DVD soon ! Evil of the Daleks vs Tomb of the Cybermen ?? Who was the best Master?

The three of us in Devious - Stephen, Ashley and David (SAD for short!) all have our own memories, thoughts and hopes about both the classic and new series. I for one (this is Ashley writing here today) first remember Patrick Troughton episodes. I remember going to a friend's birthday party in the 60s (that's the 1960's not in my 60s as I'm NOT that old just yet) and well all watched episode three of The Moonbase from behind the sofa. I remember a dalek fallling off a precipice in episode 6 (I think) of Evil of the Daleks and I remember the matt black domes of the black dalek being fired into the air when they dies and seeing the wiggling works inside as they died.

David has memories from around the same time despite being younger than me - he remembers the daleks "playing trains" in "Evil" whilst Stephen's first watched episode is The Stones of Blood for which we tease him for being so young. But now we have a new generation of fans who first remember seeing Rose. All the new toys and models out there in Woolies and Argos etc have got a new audience. Doctor Who has a new lease of life and is a different entity than the classic series. A different approach, more up-to-date and pacey as befitting drama from the 2000s. Real entertainment.

And as always there are people out there in fan-land with their own homages. Audios, books, stories, artwork, and video/film. Devious is just another homage to a great series, done with great affection.

So what to put in this section? Do we enthuse about our favourite stories, or monsters or villains. Or talk about the best sets or storylines. Or review the new stories as they happen. Well why not. It's what everyone else in Dr-Who-On-The-Web does. Let's just wait and see...
