'Devious - Halfway to Oblivion'

Devious - Halfway to Oblivion is a film currently in production in Sussex. It is a homage to the BBC TV Series "Doctor Who" and is being made by a group of enthusiastic amateur movie-makers purely for the experience of making a film, and not for financial gain.

Welcome to the "Devious" web site ! Devious the movie has been in production for well over a decade and we know that's an awful long time - but we only work on it occasional weekends and evenings, and we do do everything ourselves. We hope you will enjoy this website which is a celebration and documentation of the project, and the people and the experiences and events we've been involved in. Devious isn't just the movie project - it's a social thing, a group of like-minded people who all like Doctor Who (at varying levels - we're not all pure 'whovians') and have an interest in amateur film-making. We've all got on with our own lives as a priority of course, and when we've met up to further the project many things have happened - the obvious more visible examples being working with Jon Pertwee or the Comic Relief involvement (see elsewhere in the site) - however there are many less tangible things which have led to the Devious Project being such an enjoyable experience over the (many) years!

If we can give an impression of the fun we've had when working on the project in these images then all the better - as a "homage" or "tribute" to Doctor Who we hope it stands up - in no way have we ever thought of the project as something for any kind of end benefit to ourselves - think of it as a piece of free, public artwork for people to enjoy, albeit by the medium of this website. Think of us as a "tribute band" - we create our own vision of the programme but always regard the TV series as true.

We've been very lucky in that some clips have been shown at a couple of Dr Who conventions a few years back when we were guests, and also recently in April 2005 on BBC South's South Today (they did a five minute feature on us). You can also find a few unfinished clips (narrated by Harry Enfield) in the documentary on the Comic Relief "Curse of Fatal Death" video.

As for the current state of the project - we've finally finished all our "live action" filming (there may be a few closeups to slip in, as well as the modelwork) and are now working on the editing and special effects.  The footage has been divided into six episodes and we are also wondering what a shorter film version would be like!! All this takes time of course and so we hope you bear with us with our trickle of news now and again.

BBC South Today local news magazine programme (July 2004) also borrowed our internal TARDIS set for their studio links for their week-long series about Doctor Who Filmed in the South. This featured scenes and people involved in the original Dr Who series when filmed in the South of England - the programme also  utilised our exterior Tardis Police Box and some daleks...

and here's us lot doing a bit of filming - yes it does happen sometimes!!!!

and here's a great big starry thing hovering in a green sky - the kind of thing you'd expect ...
