A great success all round as far as we hear. Ashley would just like to take this very public opportunity to thank everyone involved with the play who made it such a wonderful experience. The masterplan part of this Devious website will now be used to mount a weighty retrospective of the play. There'll be behind-the-scenes features such as the dalek builds, the in-theatre preparations and some dress rehearsal on-stage puictures, such as the one below...(Now those of you who couldn't get along to the play can now finally see the colour schemes we chose!)...
news and news archive from the production
Here we go again! Yesterday we've seen copies of Starburst Magazine on the racks in the newsagents. So if the regular edition is out does that mean the Starburst Doctor Who Special no 87 is out there somewhere???? If you see a copy anywhere please let us know via the Say Hello part of the site!
And in other news Ashley has been beavering away (last week and this) making new model props for the effects scenes. When he has some ready we're sure he'll give us some photos for the site!
Evil of the Daleks - THE STAGE PLAY - is coming to Portsmouth later this year! And now we can announce it on this site and help our friends down in that fine city with their latest production - the famous "lost" Troughton story. These chaps have already brought you Fury from the Deep and Web of Fear fully licenced from the BBC and original writers and writers' agents/estate. They put together very professional performances and it is true to say that Evil of the Daleks will be well worth waiting for. Ambitious? Certainly - but if you don't have ambition you don't achieve.
With any luck, we hope to be able to present a cheque to Children In Need live on TV this Friday.
With luck we hope Rob (Evil) Ashley (Devious) will be there although Rob may be in disguise......(guess!!!).The programme is coming from the new tower at Portsmouth and we're told between 8.30 and 9???? Who knows - keep watching - and keep pledging your money! The links below can give you some background to Children In Need and there will be further links so you can make your donation!
Last night (30th) saw 2 of the Devious Daleks packed off to an exhibition in Southampton at the Millais Gallery. Artist Roy Brown has spent the last 6 months preparing for an exhibition featuring 15 daleks. Centred in a room with the Declaration of Human Rights etched in glass in displays around the walls, and suitably lit to bring back the menace so lacking in recent media outings the daleks are set to make quite an impressive artistic and political point in the run up to Christmas.
The saying 'if it wasn't for the last minute then nothing would get done' is most definitely true!!! We're now running round like blue-a***d flies trying to be ready for our appearance at the Dimensions On Tyne convention. The schedule is complete, and our running order is as follows...
Blimey - what happened to 2010? That soon went. Maybe it's our age. So, what's the plan for 2011?
Well that was fun. And it worked better than we had thought. The trio Stephen Ashley and David met with Tony our Doctor last evening (26th March) and started on our epic quest to do the ADR for Devious.
Above you can see Tony in his custom-made soundbooth reading from the newly transcribed script whilst keeping "a weather eye" on the action displayed on a monitor in front of him. His headphones played back each segment repeatedly whilst he refined the sentence in question.
Stephen and David from the "Devious Project" are interviewed on BBC's South East Today to coincide with the release on BBC DVD of "The War Games" -- a Patrick Troughton Doctor Who story. This DVD includes as an extra some footage from Devious and a scene featuring Jon Pertwee as the Doctor.
