Doctor Who – Devious

Mystery Men Revealed?

We did tease a shot earlier this year of a couple of really nice chaps who we met up with a few months back.

And then we promptly forgot to follow up with an explanation. That’s the crazy world of Devious for you. It was not intended to be such a gap, but in our defence we haven’t exactly put up much else either lately on the site. This, as along term readers know, is actually pretty normal for us – it’s hard to put up content about things we’re working on without spoiling anything for when it is ready. Luckily you bear with us (we hope) as we plough our lonely furrow working on all aspects of this epic saga.

We are working on many things at the moment in the course of hopefully releasing the next episode next April. There’s a lot to do! But first we need to correct this anomaly – who are these mystery men?

Well, they are Mark (L) and Richie (R) who have created the film project called Fandom in the Wilderness Years (see their website doctorwhofandoc.com here).

To quote their site…

This is a film about Doctor Who’s fallow period, where in the Doctor’s absence, fandom had to work harder to connect with the show they’ve always loved. This is a universal story about love, loss, redemption and the friends we make along the way.

As far as we understand there are many different groups covered in this independent film and we are delighted to be featured as just one.

Over a long weekend we were all interviewed at length, with Richie and Mark initially speaking to the four of us individually and then expanding to make contact with a number of other members of our extended team, and then finally with the four of Stephen Mark Ashley and David for a group chat. From all reports it seemed to go well and for our part we really enjoyed the whole process and hope that we made a good contribution to the project.

Here’s a few images from the weekend…

This is the sight faced by Ashley as his interview progressed! Ashley said he hoped it went well, and was not too distracted by Mark’s amazing Pertwee t shirt…

Whilst this is the view from the crew whilst they tried to coax Ashley into speaking. Notoriously shy and a bit reticent it is to be hoped they managed to get something out of him.

The interview progressed to his ‘prop store’ and the obligatory dalek photo was spontaneously engineered.

After the weekend we realised we hadn’t taken many photos of the other interviews – but then that wasn’t the purpose for us to take the shots! So to compensate for an image of David being interviewed here’s an exclusive photo of his Bradley costume in the special prop store David has especially created.

After a chat with Tony – our Doctor – the crew met up with Chris and had a great chat. His well appointed garden the perfect backdrop to tales of his exploits on Devious and the wider world of film-making.

The last meeting was the with the “Devious Trio” – ie Stephen, Mark, David and Ashley – seen here in the gazebo in Stephen’s garden (also well appointed)…

… although in this shot it looks as if Ashley’s worried about something although David seems unconcerned!

Maybe it must was posed especially for the filming!?

And here’s everyone on that Sunday after the wrap. Check these guys out – they’re telling a great human story of love and dedication and Doctor Who!
