Obviously there’s a massive debate about AI, and doubtless in years to come life will be much much worse / better / the same (delete as appropriate). Creativity will be stifled and will cease, with all AI extrapolation by ChatXYZ etc ripping through the art world as it stands now. Or will it? Now please attend another website for further discussion on this.

Of course in this time of learning it is both a tool and a plaything. AI Matters….?

Here’s an example of the former. David recently uploaded this image to our group chat thing. It’s an image from the next episode of Devious and has been enhanced using AI. Great to see.

Below is the same image before the AI process. David said it was on HD in the first place, but he thought the sharpness could be enhanced.

Now you are all in the same situation the Devious Team are when we meet up. David will present two images or two bits of footage to us and say “which is best?” and we will look and look and ask to see them again. It’s like when you go to the optician and they say “is this better……or this?”. “The red one or the green one – is that sharper?…How about now?” Nightmare!

And of course, the playful aspect of AI means you can do this…

Devious team member Adam sent this and a few other images based on original Devious photos from back in the day and they certainly caused us much delight! Above we see a young Stephen Cranford posing with Jon Pertwee in the back garden at his old Worthing house just after we had filmed the closing scenes for Devious Episode Six.

Of course we have similar images featuring our Interim Doctor Tony Garner and the rest of the crew. We will put them on this website at some point, although if anyone were to send us similar AI cartoons done by the various bits of software on photos from this website we’d be very interested to see them – and will will put them on the site. So far Adam has tried the cartoon style above, and we have also experimented with making us look like muppets, and in anime style too. We certainly would welcome any such efforts sent to us since it is a hell of a timewaster us doing them ourselves – we wouldn’t get the episode finished!!!
