Here is some news that hopefully will interest you and it certainly surprised us when we were asked. Richie Morgan & Mark Donaldson of Runabout Films approached us to make a documentary about the journey in making Devious. We were surprised that anyone would think this was so interesting that it would be worth making a documentary about but also happy to spend hours talking about ourselves.
In Richie and Mark’s words…
“We wanted to make a documentary that told the story of Doctor Who’s wilderness years; the local groups, the fan productions, the firm friendships that were all formed in the show’s absence. Then we realised – the story of Devious is that story – and we’re so grateful to Ashley, David, Stephen, Mark, Tony, and everyone who’s given their time to the project so far. We’re still in production, so if you’ve been a part of the Devious story at any point over the past three decades, we’d love to hear from you. “Fanning the Flame” is now focussed on our particular Wilderness Journey and we are honoured to be featured in this way. We have (nearly) all been interviewed, and have also given Richie and Mark access to our extensive archive, and so much of what we saw in the trailer was a surprise to us too!
We are eagerly awaiting the release of “Fanning the Flame” in whatever form it takes… Apparently that’s a working title. David from the Devious Team did say that as we have spent so long on Devious it should perhaps be “fannying about with the flame”. Hmm, as always he has hit the nail on the head with that.
The trailer for the documentary is on YouTube and Instagram right now and we are delighted to share it with you! It has already seems to be going down very positively on social media and among fellow fans.
